Up at 6am feeling quite good after another fantastic home cooked delight! Tried my Portuguese Porridge with a banana and a cup of tea, spot on. Another cup of tea and a Bounty Bar, strange but I fancied it. Now 8:30 and very heavy rain falling, kit on and off to Burgau to meet Joaquin for 3 laps of the village, approximately half a marathon. Started with a... waterproof running jacket on and soon found out it's description was misleading! Still very warm, 16 degrees, so jacket was ditched after the first lap. Half the run was into a strong head wind and the other half was just very wet. After a slow'ish first couple of kilometres the pace picked up to circa 4 mins per K! Quick half marathon distance training run pace! I struggled to keep with him on the 2nd lap and was just about in touch at the start of the 3rd. I found a bit of rhythm on the non head wind section, tried not to work too hard against the head wind and we picked up the pace for the last 3k to finish a very wet but very pleasing 21k in 1'28"25! I did not feel sick at the end and was buzzing to have got under 1'30 especially in the bad conditions. All good, now off for a coffee and cake in the dry!
