Late night, early up, unfortunately with a cough and the sniffles. Intended to run with the dogs but started work and avoided the run! Very busy day, late to meet Mark Jewel for our planned Half Marathon. Kit on in seconds, no warming up, remembered Vaseline though, and off we went at 6:30pm. A bit rushed and a bit too quick, legs feeling heavy, we settled in to... a steady pace after 5k, good chat for most of the run but some of the hills reduced the conversation! We ran from Kings Langley to Hemel Station up to Northridge Way, up Long Chaulden to Warners End round the back of Hemel and back through Bennetts End. Met Vince from GVH out for his run, we were coming down Barnacres and Vince was running up at a touch better pace and looking better than we did! On with the run, legs tightening back along Belswains Lane, through Kings Langley and home. 21.9k just over half marathon in 1'46"06. Felt very jaded but good to get the miles done and good to see Mark picking up his mileage in preparation for London. Quick stretch off and in for a hot shower, fish and vegetables for dinner and ice on my legs for pudding! Cough and head cold needs to be beaten, lots of vitamin c and cough mixture plus gargling with TCP, great fun!
