Day 10 1st April  The Alder Hay Hospital Liverpool to the Clatterbridge Hospital

Up late after a noisy night with a bit of a cough. No time for first workout so shower and breakfast at 7:30. Still struggling to eat especially my main fuel Porridge! All done back to the room struggling to tune in. Weather is grim and cold, route does not look too good and I want to go back to bed! Still got to keep on keeping on. Normal routine carried out, packed and checked out by 9:45. Thanks to Essential Hotels again, you are doing a great job, also thanks to the Liverpool Marriott. Outside and freezing, all in the van and off to the Alder Hay Hospital. A bit quieter than yesterday and a lot colder, Jan took all the photos, Jason took the Video, we both worked out the best way through Liverpool and across the Mersey. All done and as I could not think of anything else to do to delay the start so I set off. Legs had nothing from the start and my mind kept saying 10 in 10 at the pace was taking its toll! Jason was driving and dad was in the back chilling. A very enjoyable 8k run through to the Mersey Tunnel, jumped in the van, watch stopped, as I could nut run through, out at the other side, started the watch, fun and games to get to the docks and the coastal path! All good and a very enjoyable run through Birkenhead, an ambulance car pulled along side as I ran, quick chat and promise of donation and the offer of Oxygen if I need it! Good lads, made me smile and helped me along. I got to the docks and headed up the coast of Wallasey along the Mersey, coastal along The Bay of Liverpool to Hoylake. Very tough but wind behind to this point so enjoyable. A lot of runners out which seemed to help me bob along. I could imagine this area being great with a bit of sunshine! Following the van with dad looking happy and eating all my healthy bars and his not so healthy biscuits, we turned East and into the strong freezing wind. It was a hard slog that got slower with each kilometre through Greasby and Wirral, almost to Heswell and completing the 42.26k at the entrance to the Oncology Centre at the Clatterbridge hospital in a time of 3'25"08, welcomed by Sian from Teenage Cancer Trust along with Jan and the family. Legs seized up again with a touch of a right calf strain and right knee pain! Photos taken, quick conversation over and back in the van as it was freezing. Jan and the family headed home, thank you and sorry boys for spoiling your Easter weekend, and we headed to our next accommodation in Runcorn. Quick stop in Costa for a great Cappuccino and Granola bar. Now in my room icing, Jason and Karen are on their way home and dad is asleep! Thanks to the Vincent Hotel in Southport for being today's shirt sponsor. Very much appreciated as was the accommodation. Well back to me and dad again and no doubt some fun and games! 10 marathons in 10, 1/3rd complete!

I hope everyone had a good Easter and looking forward to getting back to work!
